Eric Mikalauskas

Eric Mikalauskas, who will be a sophomore at Westfield High School in September 2010, has been studying piano at the Carolyn Klinger-Kueter Music Studio for nine years.  Eric, who has a wide range of musical interests, currently plays piano in the WHS Jazz Band, mellophone in the WHS Marching Band, and clarinet in the WHS Concert Band. As a sophomore, he will be playing in the WHS Wind Ensemble, the highest-level, audition-only, band at the school.  He was also a member of the pit orchestra for the WHS musical The Mystery of Edwin Drood, in which he played clarinet, and is currently studying tenor saxophone.  Eric enjoys composing as well, and has played his own compositions at each of the last three piano recitals.
At Roosevelt Intermediate School, Eric participated in the TR Scholar program for English, where he wrote a number of creative pieces (among them a 13-page screen play), and was awarded the Allopenna/Franzen Language Arts Award.  Eric also enjoys Spanish; last summer he studied the language in Barcelona, Spain for a month and is scheduled to continue his studies in Peru this July.
Eric looks forward to sharing his enthusiasm and knowledge about music and inspiring next fall’s incoming beginners, both eager and otherwise.
